It's been a minute since I went to NYC but with mom life and having my besties and family in town it took some time to get this blog post finished! This was my first weekend get away without Sophie. My best friend Michelle lives there and my other besties Kate and Paige came with me to visit her for a girls weekend! I missed Sophie terribly but it was great to get some girl time with my best friends. The weather was incredible and we got a lot in in one weekend! Here is a breakdown of what we did.
Brunch: The Loyal
Located in West Village this is such a great brunch spot! Great atmosphere, cocktail list and FOOD! The ring leader cocktail is delicious and their eggs benjamin was divine. I highly recommend that the table share the Olive Oil Skillet Cake and someone gets the Fried Chicken Sandwich (a lot of food but probably the most tasty thing they have).
Located between Greenich Village and Soho this is another great brunch spot. It is a regular for the locals and opens up early unlike some of the other brunch spots. More of a dive diner look to it but fun music and great food. I never drink bourbon but the branstormer was surprisingly delicious. Their Bloody mary was so-so. Rosemary french fries are a must for the table and their avocado toast and vanilla bean french toast are a must!
Lunch: La Loteria
Located in West Village with a menu ranging from tacos to scallops with Mexican black truffle this place is SO GOOD! Best tacos and gauc I have ever had and a cute little patio for warmer NY weather!
Dinner: Lure Fish Bar
Located in SOHO, Lure Fish Bar is such a fun spot for dinner! Designed to look like an old boat it has such a fun feel for cocktails or dinner. Known for it's fresh seafood from around the world and raw oysters, there is also a lot on the menu you can get that is not seafood. They have a killer martini and their hellfire sushi roll is so good! If you aren't wanting seafood their roasted organic chicken is another favorite.
Located in Brooklyn Vinegar Hill House is a quiant restaurant with a relaxed feel. It was warm enough that we were able to eat outside in the garden which was such a neat spot. I am not a brussel sprouts fan but there is something about theirs and I would get them over and over again! The cast iron chicken is a restaurant favorite and their sage garganelli pasta is heavenly.
Every single meal we had was delicious but Vic's may have just been the absolute favorite. With Italian-Mediterranean style dishes there is a reason that they have such a loyal following! Their crispy onions..... omg. Just a must for the table! Also the Borsa - get it as a dish or for the table as well because it is divine! Caico de pepe is another pasta dish you can't go wrong with.
There is soooo much to do while in NYC that it's hard to get it all in in one weekend! If it's your first time the must dos are walking around/shopping on 5th Ave. It's fun to look around the high end stores like Bergdorf Goodman and then shop at favorites like Zara and H&M. And obviously don't forget times square.
My favorite shopping we did was in West and Greenwich Village! There you find cute little boutiques and it has less of a touristy vibe. Some of the boutiques even serve mimosas while you shop. :) Here are some places we shopped that had adorable stuff!
Pink Olive: Cute cards, books and signs for your home! Got Kyle his father's day card there.
On Friday we started our day with blowouts at Dry Bar in Midtown. To be completely honest Kate and I didn't love our hair and ended up having to mess with it afterwards but it was a fun experience. Paige's hair looked great. I think the key is to go in and know exactly what you want and don't just use their booklet to tell them how you want your hair.
CHICAGO! It was amazing. I have seen that and Aladdin and both are incredible. Seeing a Broadway show is always a fun experience.
We got drinks at the 1 Brookly Bridge Rooftop bar with such a great view. It's in the Dumbo area which is a spot I want to explore next time I'm in NYC.
Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan SoHo Village Nice hotel for a fair price and SUCH a good location! We were walking distance from West Village and right near the subway!
New York is my absolute favorite city to visit. The energy there is insane and there is just so much to do. Also a plus that my bestie lives there! Cannot wait until next time!
